The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Monday released pictures of the lunar surface captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC). LHDAC has been developed by Space Applications Center (SAC), the premier research and development center of ISRO located in Ahmedabad. This camera helps in identifying areas that are safe for landing, where there are no big stones or deep ditches. According to the space agency, the lander is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as LHDAC to achieve the multiple objectives of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14 and aims to achieve a soft landing on the south pole of the Moon. ISRO said on Sunday that the lander module along with the rover is likely to land on the lunar surface on August 23 at around 6.04 pm.
